Job Description
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/ Supervisor is responsible to submit quotations and tenders to existing and potential clients.
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/ Supervisor is responsible to ensure meeting budget and L&C.
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/ Supervisor is responsible for marketing and increasing the SGS footprint.
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/ Supervisor is responsible for the annual performance appraisals and training for all reporting staff.
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/ Supervisor is to submit all monthly and quarterly reports as and when requested.
- Submit all information to the relevant HRBP/Payroll Administrator within the required timeframe and correct format.
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/ Supervisor is responsible to ensure the accreditation and Health and Safety regulations requirements are adhered to in and around the laboratory.
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the correct test methods are followed.
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is responsible liaison with clients for receiving job instruction.
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to review of job instructions and approve for processing
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to review and source of resources where necessary
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to channel instructions to applicable division
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to monitor progress to ensure that tests are completed and reported in time
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to do the final checking and approval of report prior to issue to client
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to ensure that the test methods used are most up to date
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to evaluate and approve suppliers and sub-contractors.
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to ensure that purchased equipment meets specification, before bringing into system. Equipment tick list to be used.
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to implement the quality system
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to complete audits on documentation, results and reports as per schedule.
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to acquisition of capital equipment and consumables as required by test methods – to be done according to directives
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to assess results of proficiency tests
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to verify calibration of equipment according to schedule
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to carry out corrective actions as necessary
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to arrange repair and maintenance of equipment
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to monitor the quality of, and certifying of results as issued to client
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to review and source of resources where necessary
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is train personnel as and when required
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to complete weekly inspection report
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/Supervisor is to do planning of work
- A Commercial Laboratory Manager/ Supervisor is to ensure safety in the laboratory – adhering to Health and Safety specifications
- Relevant National Diploma or NQF 6
OR - Grade 12 or NQF4
- Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering and/or proven years of laboratory, knowledge, skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through - Recognition of Prior Learning.
- Proficiency in English
- Basic literacy and penmanship
- Drivers License.
- Competent and qualified to do all tests in all laboratory divisions including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete / aggregate
- Competent and qualified to do quality laboratory control and implementation
- Competent and qualified to supervise and execute all field work
- Be familiar with COLTO & COTO
- Knowledge of Health and Safety
