The estimated base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $115,000 per year.
Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors
Project Engineer
What You’ll Be Doing
Provide mechanical engineering support related to manufacturing equipment, systems, and plant processes
Deliver daily technical support to assigned Value Streams and manufacturing operations
Identify and execute process improvement, reliability, and cost reduction opportunities
Design, manage, and execute capital projects with moderate to significant technical complexity
Provide proactive technical assistance to operations and maintenance teams
Actively participate as a Value Stream Team member to resolve common cause and special cause reliability issues
Investigate operational and equipment problems by:
Consulting with production personnel
Analyzing operational and process data
Recommending corrective actions
Following through to evaluate effectiveness of implemented solutions
Serve as owner of critical equipment, systems, and manufacturing processes within the plant
Execute capital projects while maintaining agreed cost, schedule, and performance targets
Serve as the primary plant contact for AWI Capital Project teams supporting the Pensacola facility
Communicate plant needs, priorities, and critical issues to corporate project teams
Apply Precision Maintenance concepts and principles across all engineering and maintenance activities
Support plant productivity, reliability, and operational performance initiatives
Transfer technical knowledge and best practices to operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel
Manage contractors supporting assigned projects and plant initiatives
Participate in troubleshooting activities related to downtime, quality, and equipment performance
Support continuous improvement efforts across manufacturing operations
Travel less than 10% as needed to support projects and operations

What Makes You Stand Out
Experience supporting heavy manufacturing or industrial process environments
Demonstrated success executing capital projects up to $500K
Hands-on experience with industrial dust collection systems and combustion systems
Experience supporting manufacturing Value Streams and plant reliability initiatives
Background in Precision Maintenance methodologies and reliability improvement
Experience owning critical plant equipment, systems, or manufacturing processes
Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience
Experience working closely with maintenance and operations teams to resolve downtime and quality issues
Proficiency with:
SAP
Minitab
AutoCAD
Inventor
Fusion 360
SharePoint
EIT or FE certification
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in:
Mechanical Engineering
Chemical Engineering
Or related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university
5–7 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Demonstrated experience managing capital projects of moderate technical complexity and budgets up to $500K
Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, systems, and operational processes
Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, reliability, and process improvement methodologies
Experience supporting equipment installations, modifications, and process optimization initiatives
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in:
Microsoft Office
SAP
Minitab
SharePoint
AutoCAD/Inventor/Fusion 360
Ability to work in industrial manufacturing environments, including:
Climbing stairs and elevated platforms around machinery
Exposure to hot, humid, dusty, and non-climate-controlled environments
Seasonal temperatures ranging from approximately 20°F–120°F
Less than 10% travel required
