Purpose and Scope
This position provides support in the development of daily radio productions for Memphis Shelby County Schools (MSCS)Radio Station 88.5FM. Develops and delivers original, locally produced, special programs and public service announcements on topics of interest which serves students, families, teachers, other District staff and the Shelby County/Memphis area community.
Essential Job Functions
- Serves as on-air talent radio show host for 88.5 FM
- Writes, creates, edits and delivers a variety of original on-air content for 88.5 FM.
- Operates digital audio storage/delivery systems and other technical production equipment to produce and record radio programs including live school board meetings, press conferences, sports coverage, etc.
- Responds to various radio broadcast request, inquiries, and complaints.
- Utilizes social media platforms to identify potential sponsorships in efforts to increase and generate revenue for the station.
- Researches information necessary for the preparation and execution of radio program schedules.
- Assists with the implementation of new programs, special events, script writing, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcasting, Communications or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience totaling four (4) years. On-air experience fitting a broad range of music formats is preferred. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPEREINCE IS REQUIRED)
Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
