Job Summary
The Quality Control Manager owns the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of Mesa’s quality control function across manufacturing and testing operations. This role leads quality personnel, establishes and enforces quality systems, and ensures compliance with internal standards, ISO requirements, and customer specifications. The Manager is accountable for quality performance, drives root cause resolution, and partners cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to improve product reliability and operational efficiency. This role combines hands-on leadership with strategic oversight to build scalable, repeatable quality processes and a high-performing team.

 

Essential Duties

  • Manage and lead Quality Control team performance, ensuring alignment with departmental goals, production targets, and organizational quality objectives.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key performance metrics, providing clear visibility into quality performance, risks, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
  • Own resource planning and allocation, including staffing, workload prioritization, and daily execution to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Support budget planning and cost management initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources while maintaining quality standards.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives across quality inspection, testing, and reporting workflows to increase efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts, including root cause analysis and CAPA, ensuring timely resolution of quality issues and prevention of recurrence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to align workflows, improve product quality, and reduce operational risk.
  • Ensure compliance with Mesa standards, ISO requirements, and customer specifications, maintaining audit readiness at all times.
  • Develop and grow team capability through coaching, training, performance feedback, and development planning.
  • Provide regular reporting and escalate critical issues impacting quality, delivery, or safety to senior leadership in a timely manner.
  • Support strategic initiatives, including new product introductions, process scaling, and operational readiness efforts.
  • All other duties assigned.

Education
Required

  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field from an accredited university and/or 5+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

 

Experience
Required

  • 5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing or technical environment.
  • 3 years of leadership experience required; formal management experience preferred but strong lead/foreman level experience may be considered.


Preferred

  • 2 years of formal management experience and /or strong lead/foreman level experience may be considered.
  • Honorably discharged service veterans are preferred.

 

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
Preferred

  • ASQ certification: ASQ CQT, CQI, CQE, CQA, or CMQ/OE, demonstrating advanced knowledge of quality systems, auditing, and continuous improvement.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Solid understanding of manufacturing operations and quality control processes, and their impact on overall business performance.
  • Knowledge of performance metrics, KPI development, and reporting, with the ability to link quality outcomes to operational and financial results.
  • Understanding of budgeting and resource planning principles, including labor planning and cost considerations.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and continuous improvement frameworks (Lean, Six Sigma, CAPA).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards, regulatory requirements, and quality management systems (QMS).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey expectations, provide feedback, and present performance insights to leadership.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, including structured root cause analysis and decision-making in complex operational environments.
  • Effective resource allocation and prioritization, balancing workload, staffing, and operational demands.
  • Demonstrated performance management and team development skills, including coaching, accountability, and engagement.
  • Strong decision-making capability, with the ability to balance quality, cost, and delivery considerations.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Ability to manage and drive team performance, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, quality standards, and operational targets.
  • Ability to lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives, developing scalable and standardized processes across quality operations.
  • Ability to plan, allocate, and optimize resources, including staffing, workload prioritization, and tool utilization to meet business demands.
  • Ability to manage and operate within budget constraints, balancing quality objectives with cost efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Ability to develop, track, and report performance metrics, ensuring accuracy, visibility, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Ability to proactively identify, communicate, and escalate risks or issues, providing clear recommendations and driving timely resolution.
  • Ability to foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement, reinforcing expectations and driving team engagement.
  • Must be able to fluently speak, write, and read in English.
