Job Summary
The Hot Shot Driver works within a team at all hours and maintains professionalism at all times. The Hot Shot Driver is responsible for performing minor mechanical work as well as picking up and delivering generators to oilfield locations. Must be reliable, prompt, able to navigate.

 

Essential Duties

  • Transports, loads, secures and unloads generators on and off customer sites.
  • Maintains logs of travel and cargo according to federal and state regulations.
  • Prepares, receives, and provides appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick up of goods to ensure timely service.
  • Maintains contact with dispatcher to receive instructions for scheduled delivery or pick up.
  • Assist generator Tech in the set up and maintenance of generators as needed.
  • Responsible for vehicle inspection, cleaning, maintenance, job safety analysis and vehicle safety checks.
  • Must have a "satisfactory" driving record according to company statutes.
  • Maintain DOT regulations.
  • Must be available for on call work a week out of the month.
  • All other duties assigned.

Education
Required

  • High School or GED

 

Experience
Required

  • 3 years of previous driving experience.


Preferred

  • 1 year of mechanical experience.
  • Honorably discharged service veterans are preferred.

 

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
Required

  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Current CDL required, with eligibility for interstate operations and hazardous materials transport; candidates must be at least 21 years of age.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge and ability to maintain DOT Regulations.
  • Ability to maintain a "satisfactory" driving record according to company and DOT standards.
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial vehicle operation and safety regulations, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rules.
  • Knowledge of state and federal traffic laws applicable to commercial vehicles.
  • Familiarity with vehicle inspection procedures and maintenance requirements.
  • Understanding of cargo securement and hazardous materials handling (if applicable).
  • Awareness of emergency procedures and accident protocols.
  • Proficient in operating Class A, B, or C commercial vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Skilled in performing pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Ability to maneuver large vehicles in diverse environments including highways, urban, and rural settings.
  • Effective time management and route planning skills to meet delivery schedules.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with dispatchers, customers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ability to maintain focus and react quickly to road and traffic conditions over long driving hours.
  • Capacity to handle physical demands such as loading/unloading cargo and securing loads when required.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety standards.
  • Capability to manage stress and fatigue associated with long-distance driving.
  • Ability to maintain accurate logs and records in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Must be able to fluently speak, write, and read in English.
