Job Summary 

The Driver is responsible for safely transporting PACE participants to and from the program site while maintaining accurate transportation logs and records. This role assists participants with boarding and exiting the vehicle, delivers medications, supplies, and medical equipment to participants’ homes as needed, and communicates daily route updates to other drivers. The Driver functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and contributes participantspecific observations to support coordinated care.

Minimum Qualifications  

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid GA Driver's License
  • Clean driving record with no traffic citations or violations within the past 12 months
  • 1 year of experience with professional driving/transportation
  • Must be able to operate mid-to-large size vehicle and possess general automobile mechanism knowledge.
  • Knowledge of assisting patients or persons with Dementia/Alzheimer Disease, including individuals with mobility limitations or medical conditions preferred and/or one year of experience working with a frail or elderly population.
  • Must not have been convicted of criminal offenses pertaining to physical, sexual, drug, or alcohol abuse.

Competencies, Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • BLS certified/ First Aid Certification preferred. Must maintain upon completion/Or must obtain BLS and CPR within 60 days of hire.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • CDL-Preferred
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and patients/participants to provide excellent customer service.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team with other drivers and PACE Georgia staff.

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

  • This position operates in a combination of vehicle, community, home, and facility settings. The role requires frequent sitting while driving, as well as standing, walking, bending, and assisting participants with transfers or mobility needs in various environments. The employee must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds in relation to wheelchairs, medical equipment, and supply deliveries. Entering participants’ homes and healthcare facilities may involve navigating uneven surfaces, tight spaces, and varying sanitary or environmental conditions. The role also requires exposure to outdoor weather during participant pickups, dropoffs, and deliveries.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work 

  • This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position. Hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional variations based on participant needs, transportation schedules, or operational requirements.

 

Travel 

  • Travel is a primary function of this role. The employee regularly drives within the PACE service area to transport participants and deliver supplies, medications, and equipment. Occasional travel to training sessions or other PACErelated locations may also be required.
