Front Desk Associate/Patient Services Liaison
Job Description
The Front Desk Check-In Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors at the surgery center. This role is responsible for ensuring a professional, welcoming, and efficient check-in experience while maintaining accuracy in patient information, insurance verification, and documentation. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent customer service, strong attention to detail, and the ability to handle a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Check-In & Customer Service
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner
- Verify patient identity, demographics, and appointment details
- Ensure all required forms and consents are completed accurately prior to procedures
- Provide clear instructions regarding check-in, wait times, and next steps
Registration & Documentation
- Scan, upload, and maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health system
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards
Insurance & Financial Coordination
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, or outstanding balances as required
- Communicate financial policies and answer basic billing questions
Scheduling & Coordination
- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and timely procedures
- Notify appropriate departments of patient arrivals or delays
Administrative Support
- Answer phones and direct calls to appropriate departments
- Manage front desk operations including file organization and supply monitoring
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 1–2 years of front desk, medical office, or healthcare experience preferred
- Experience in a surgery center or ophthalmology practice is a plus
