Position Overview

Lilly has built a state-of-the-art, highly automated campus in Concord, North Carolina, with warehousing & logistics, operations including parenteral, medical device assembly, and packaging, QC laboratories, and support teams to produce medicines for an unmet patient need. The Health, Safety and Environmental associate collaborates with cross functional team members in operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, and HSE to develop, implement and continuously improve technical and cultural health and safety programs. This position will focus mainly on health and safety programs, although there may be some overlap into environmental systems.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Engage site resources in achieving an interdependent safety culture.
  • Partner with site HSE and cross functional teams to develop, establish, and sustain HSE systems, processes, and programs to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements and provide ongoing technical support.
  • Understand and support HSE event investigations, CAPA and change control processes, and influence application of the hierarchy of controls to reduce risk, driving toward site and company goals to achieve an injury free workplace
  • Provide floor support to multiple operations (this includes auditing, data collection, trending, and supporting local safety teams)
  • Evaluate site equipment and processes against industry and internal standards to identify and prioritize improvements.
  • Navigate complex systems and internal processes to accomplish tasks in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Coach and train other HSE staff, leadership, and technical resources on both HSE technical aspects and culture development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of science in scientific, engineering, or HSE-related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a full time health and safety role in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience in GMP manufacturing environments.
  • Hands on, practical experience with common safe work practices, such as safe work permits, lock out tag out, working at heights.
  • Practical experience evaluating and improving ergonomic employee concerns and injuries.
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Experience working with Veeva and Intellex platforms.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$65,250 - $169,400

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
