The Sr. Director of Human Resources - Stores acts as a strategic HR Business Partner to the Head of Stores and Field Leadership team, driving organizational effectiveness, talent development, succession planning, and leadership capability across a rapidly growing retail footprint. This leader will serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to field leadership, helping translate company strategy into practical execution while strengthening bench strength, engagement, and overall team performance.
Responsibilities
Field Leadership Partnership & HR Business Support
- Serve as the primary HR Business Partner for the Head of Stores and Field Leadership organization
- Provide guidance on organizational design, talent planning, performance management, engagement, and leadership effectiveness
- Support growth initiatives, organizational changes, and field leadership development across stores and markets
- Coach Regional Directors and District Managers to strengthen leadership capability and execution consistency
Talent Development & Succession Planning
- Lead succession planning efforts across the store organization to ensure strong bench strength for key leadership roles
- Build and execute leadership development strategies for Store Managers, District Managers, Regional Directors, and high-potential talent
- Identify capability gaps and implement scalable talent review, career pathing, and development processes
- Support onboarding and transition planning for new and promoted leaders
Organizational Effectiveness & Culture
- Drive initiatives that improve engagement, accountability, communication, and organizational effectiveness
- Coach leaders through performance management, talent decisions, and difficult conversations
- Utilize workforce insights and field feedback to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Partner with HR teams to improve field support, responsiveness, and Team Member experience

- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience supporting multi-unit retail operations
- Strong background in HR business partnership, talent development, and succession planning within high-growth environments
- Experience supporting large, geographically dispersed field organizations
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive organizational change
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment
- Able to clearly view and read information on a computer screen
- Occasionally lift or move items up to 15 pounds
Location and Travel Requirements
- On-site in Lenexa, KS
- Must be able to travel up to 30%
Pay Range
$160,000.00 - $210,000.00
