About the Role
The Private Label Packaging Graphic Designer is responsible for developing and executing packaging and visual brand systems that bring private label products to life across all customer touchpoints. This role translates product strategy into compelling brand stories through thoughtful design, ensuring packaging clearly communicates value, differentiates at shelf, and aligns with overall brand positioning. In addition to creating high-quality, production-ready assets, this role helps establish scalable design systems, workflows, and brand standards that support efficiency and consistency across categories. By partnering closely with Merchandising, Marketing, and supplier teams, this position plays a key role in driving cohesive brand experiences that support product launches, enhance customer engagement, and contribute to overall sales performance.
What You’ll Do
- Conceptualize and develop innovative private label packaging designs, including graphics, layouts, labels, boxes, and structural elements that align with product strategy, brand positioning, and customer needs.
- Translate product strategy into compelling visual brand narratives by helping define brand positioning, packaging architecture, and messaging framework that differentiate products at the shelf and create a cohesive customer experience across categories.
- Develop, establish and evolve private label brand guidelines and packaging standards to ensure consistency and scalability across product lines, categories and customer touchpoints.
- Create 2D and 3D mockups, prototypes, and renderings to visualize packaging concepts and support cross-functional alignment and decision-making.
- Ensure all designs clearly communicate product features and benefits while standing out in a competitive retail environment and aligning to brand guidelines.
- Design and produce creative assets across channels including packaging, circulars, catalogs, direct mail, ecommerce, digital and in store signage to ensure a cohesive brand experience.
- Develop and maintain packaging templates, dielines and brand standards that improve efficiency, consistency and speed to market.
- Contribute to and help evolve scalable workflows, asset management practices, and production processes that support private label growth and new brand launches.
- Select and recommend materials with consideration for cost, sustainability, functionality and print production feasibility.
- Prepare and release print-ready artwork, including dielines, color specifications, proofs and production files that meet vendor and printer requirements.
- Ensure all packaging and creative assets comply with brand standards, legal requirements and industry regulations. (e.g., labeling requirements, health/safety standards).
- Manage multiple projects from concept through production, maintaining accuracy, organization, and adherence to timelines and budgets in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.
- Proofread and review all work to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality across all deliverables.
- Write and refine product and packaging copy as needed, ensuring clarity, accuracy and alignment with brand voice.
- Maintain organized digital asset management, including file naming conventions, version control, and archiving of packaging and creative files.
- Generate, manipulate and retouch product and lifestyle imagery for packaging and marketing use.
- Conduct research on market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor packaging to inform design decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Create in-store signage, including shelf strips, overhead displays, posters, banners, floor graphics, window clings, and seasonal displays to support product launches and promotional events.
- Demonstrate a proactive, forward-thinking mindset by identifying opportunities to improve processes, elevate creative and solve problems independently.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with internal teams and external partners.

What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Packaging Design, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in packaging design, preferably with private label or consumer products (e.g., food, beauty, household goods, tools).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating packaging projects, including private label or branded work.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and 3D software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, or CAD).
- Knowledge of printing processes, materials, die-cutting, and production techniques.
- Understanding of branding, typography, color theory, and consumer psychology.Excellent attention to detail and ability to balance creativity with practical constraints.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams and external vendors.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices and regulatory compliance in packaging.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Work in a team environment, under pressure with tight deadlines
- Prior related experience in a retail environment preferred.
