The Originator develops and executes optimized strategies to maximize value from ExxonMobil’s power trading assets, including production sources, 3rd party volumes, flexible contracts, storage, pipelines, and receiving terminals. This role focuses on short-term optimization and execution, ensuring compliance with contractual and physical constraints while capturing incremental value opportunities
Job Role Responsibilities
Optimize asset utilization by developing and executing short-term strategies for power.
Coordinate deal implementation with Trading, Origination, and Risk teams, including setup in ETRM and related systems
Manage short-term events and disruptions, adjusting plans to maintain value capture and minimize risk
Support commercial readiness by preparing analysis, toolkits, and materials for trading strategies and portfolio decisions
Interface with functional support groups (e.g. legal, tax, credit) to facilitate deal review and approval processes
Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal control requirements for all portfolio activities
Monitor portfolio performance and report variances against plan; recommend corrective actions as needed
Preferred Experience
- Power Origination experience in north-west European markets (UK, BEL, NL, DE, IT)
- Experience originating and executing structure products, for example: Clean-Spark-Spread Options, gas-to-power tolling agreements, virtual energy storage products etc.
- Generating third=party flow business
- Running competitive tenders for large gas and power supply
- Asset optimization oversight
- Familiary with European Capacity Markets / Ancillary Service Markets
- Experience building new power trading capabilities/ implementing and operationalizing new trading structures
