We are looking for a Rare Disease Ecosystem Lead who has the ability to lead the development and execution of tailored strategies to achieve Rare Disease market and financial objectives in collaboration with specific stakeholders. Based in México
About the role
Responsible for leading the field commercial team and executing the national sales strategy to ensure sustainable business growth and optimal patient access. This leader will serve as the key commercial expert for the rare disease portfolio, partnering closely with Market Access and Medical Affairs to ensure alignment in strategic planning, access initiatives, and execution across public and private healthcare sectors. This role is instrumental in developing the team’s expertise in the orphan drug space, ensuring field readiness, and reinforcing UCB’s position as a trusted partner in the treatment of rare diseases.
What you’ll do
- Design and implement the national commercial plan for the rare disease portfolio, ensuring sustainable sales growth in both public and private institutions.
- Lead, coach and develop high performing teams as Rare Disease Partners and coordinate the efforts of the regional commercial customer-facing team members to collectively achieve company objectives and enhance patient value delivery more efficiently.
- Translate ecosystem dynamics and field insights into actionable strategies that leverage key insights and distinctive market characteristics to optimize the creation of patient value and advance Rare Disease portfolio objectives.
- Oversee KPIs and business performance, identifying growth opportunities and mitigating risks
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure that customer-facing team members possess the necessary materials and tools from the Internal Engine.
- Understanding and communicating to relevant payors coverage, reimbursement and other aspects of how UCB portfolio are managed to enhance understanding and drive optimal usage in collaboration with Private Access teams.
- Through influencing and partnering with payers identify and co-create innovative solutions to access challenges (relevant also for other local decision makers & influencers depending on internal capabilities available)
- Enhance disease-state management by ensuring that the ecosystem customer-facing team is aligned under a guiding principle of patient value generation.
- Set a leading example to ensure a culture of compliance throughout all endeavors and undertakings within the designated markets.
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience
and skills
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience, with at least 3 years leading sales teams or national commercial operations.
- Proven experience in rare diseases, or high specialty, or orphan drug markets.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary and/or matrixed teams
- Demonstrated knowledge of the complex government healthcare ecosystems (including access environment), managing government Healthcare Ecosystems (Control Tower & PEPMAE), aswell as Private Healthcare Ecosystems
- Excellence in written and verbal communications: Spanish & English.
- Business planning, tactical plan development and execution
