I Accountability Objectives:

Under minimal supervision, accurately receive, stage, store and distribute, when appropriate, incoming shipments of supplies and equipment. Maintain, store, pull and distribute inventoried and department special order supplies for Cath Lab, OR, ASC and other specialty departments. May be assigned specifically to Receiving, Outside Delivery, Mail Room, or Specialty Depts. Prepare and arrange for outgoing shipments as required. Maintain order and cleanliness of dock, staging area, store room, and department specific supply areas.

 Special Skill / Aptitudes

  • Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.

  • Proficient in written and verbal English language. Requires the knowledge and use of arithmetic including fractions and decimals.

  • Has demonstrated good analytical and reasoning skills in order to gather and interpret data, to make decisions about supply and inventory levels on high dollar, critical medical equipment and problem-solve issues to resolve customer concerns independently.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of wireless hand held technology. Lawson experience preferred.

  • Basic computer keyboarding skills to include basic word processing experience and Excel spreadsheet experience as demonstrated through the passage of a job-related assessment tool.

  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment including walk behind hi-lo, pallet jack, dock leveler, et al.

  • Ability to use proper body mechanics in order to lift 50 lbs. and push, pull, or otherwise move in a controlled manner linen carts up to 500 lbs. utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment approximately 20-25% of the work time.

Experience

  • 1 year of experience in any one or combination of the following: receiving, distribution, warehousing, shipping, logistics, material handling, inventory control or other comparable service line in a health care setting, normally working as Supply Tech 1.

  • Experience must include exposure to Cath Lab, OR, ASC supplies, receiving supplies, mailroom and/or outside delivery assignments.

  • Requires the use of supply chain technology solutions, (i.e. Wireless Handheld devices or other expandable wireless products), in a health care setting.

  • 1 year as Supply Tech I at SJMO preferred.

III Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Accurately receives incoming supply/equipment shipments by verifying purchase order numbers, quantities and items to packing slip, noting conditions of damage, shortages, and/or potential concealed damage on packing slip and purchase order. Notifies buyer/requisitioner immediately of any damages.

  • Working with specialty dept staff, ensures correct supply levels for upcoming scheduled procedures. Performs count, picks orders, issues/distributes, delivers (& returns excess) clean linen, supplies and equipment.

  • Stages incoming shipment, determining requestor/user destination, moving items to distribution point to assist in assuring delivery to appropriate departments to include all areas of SJMO with the goal of same day delivery.

  • Prepares outgoing shipments, determining/utilizing most appropriate and cost effective means/carrier for shipping. Prepares packages for shipment, and completes documentation of linen, supplies and/or equipment for vendor returns or other out-going items.

  • Handles refrigerated, overnight and other rush shipments 5 appropriately and expeditiously.

  • Enters daily supply / equipment receipts into Lawson. Continuously monitors supply levels and notifies supervisor of any shortages of supplies on hand.

  • Organizes and files completed receiving documents.

  • Works with procurement, Contract Management Team, and/or requestor/end user staff to resolve discrepancies regarding supply/equipment receipts and/or shipments.

  • Delivers/picks-up supplies, equipment and linens to/from offsite components of SJMO as necessary.

  • Uses hand held to order/deliver necessary supplies for/to the ASC, OR, CATH LAB, and other departments as identified.

  • Receives and sorts interoffice mail and incoming US mail daily. Processes outbound mail and UPS, assisting hospital personnel with the preparation of all required forms. Utilizes mail processing and computer equipment in performance duties.

  • Tracks monthly billing of mail services, charging related costs back to appropriate departments using MS Excel.

  • Responsible for monitoring and resolving damaged, expired and excess inventory for assigned specialty department in accordance with established departmental policy.

  • Replenishes from storeroom overstock area, items for ASC, OR, CATH LAB, and or other specialty departments as identified.

  • Completes inventory replenishment process for ASC, OR, Cath Lab and other specialty departments as identified, utilizing manual or automated technology. Follows established inventory reorder levels.

  • Performs data transfers of inventory info through utilization of hand held devises.

  • Stays abreast of technological changes in supply chain systems as upgraded or installed to replace existing practices.

  • Participates in taking physical inventories and/or cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory control.

  • Performs other duties as assigned, including any function of Supply Tech I.
