Job Summary

The Late-Stage Collections Analyst is responsible for managing and recovering accounts with overdue payments, often involving higher delinquency levels. This role requires strong negotiation skills, persistence, and the ability to balance firmness and customer relations in order to maximize debt recovery.

The role involves analyzing and reviewing potential Skip charge-off accounts, monitoring account statuses, creating detailed reports, conducting thorough analyses, and working hand-in-hand with the supervisor in order to develop and implement effective collection strategies and initiatives. The analyst monitors the performance of various vendors, such as repossession agencies and outbound collections teams, ensuring they meet the required SLAs and contribute to the debt recovery process.

Primary Job Accountabilities

Late-Stage Accounts Monitoring:

  • Monitor High-Risk Accounts: Oversee >60 dpd, high risk and any potential skip account, ensuring timely intervention and management.
  • Trend Analysis: Identify trends in delinquency and develop recovery initiatives.
  • Compliance & Repo Referrals: Assist supervisor in approving repossession referrals, ensuring compliance with guidelines.
  • Targeted Delinquency Strategies: Develop targeted initiatives for late-stage delinquent accounts to reduce delinquency ratios.
  • Management Presentations & Analysis: Prepare and assist with presentations and ad hoc analyses related to collections efforts and results.
  • Team Leadership: Assist supervisor with the team of collectors in order to achieve assigned KPIs.
  • Bad Debt Minimization: Develop initiatives to minimize bad debts and enhance collection processes.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports on collection activities to management.
  • Bankruptcy: Monitor bankruptcy accounts and always ensure compliance.

Collections Compliance

  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure adherence to statutes of limitation laws and FDCPA regulations.
  • Policy & Procedure Management: Implement and follow proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls.
  • Account Monitoring: Closely monitor accounts related to potential bankruptcy, legal issues, military status, and SCRA compliance.
  • Lien Compliance: Oversee accounts with missing liens to ensure compliance.
  • Vendor Performance Monitoring: Track vendor productivity against agreed KPIs and targets and monitor their performance.
  • KPI Reporting: Develop and prepare KPI reports as requested.

Project Management Support:

  • Kaizen Projects: Participate in Kaizen projects to drive continuous improvement.
  • Project Team Collaboration: Contribute to project teams by delivering tasks as needed.

Education

Required:

  • Four-Year College Degree (BA or BS): Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience – Subject Matter Expertise

Required

  • 2-5 years of relevant/progressive work experience in similar field or industry

Preferred

  • 5-10 years of relevant/progressive work experience in similar field or industry

Licenses, Certifications & Specialized Skills

Required:

  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel to develop financial reporting, spreadsheets, and database experience.
  • Basic accounting knowledge.
  • Advanced problem-solving, negotiation, and communications skills.
  • Strong verbal and written English and Spanish skills.
  • Advanced organization, attention to detail, action-oriented skills.
  • Know when to escalate issues and be able to clearly explain situations and provide recommendations to Collections Supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Experience in handling bankruptcy accounts and procedures.

Preferred

  • Ability to understand, integrate and implement workflow and analytical solutions and directives as they become available.

Additional Comments, Including Unique Circumstances

  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. In some instances, working overtime and during holidays may be required.
