Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s One Tech compliance, audit and trade technologies department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Trade Systems Product Owner.
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide technical project management expertise and guidance for the Toyota’s One Tech compliance, audit and trade technologies department. Serving as a Product Owner, providing subject matter expertise for trade related projects and maintaining an application portfolio by managing support teams, vendor relationships, along with performing vendor and contract management tasks.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the development and success of our digital solutions for the trade department by bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders. This role is responsible for defining and prioritizing technology demand, ensuring that the development team delivers high-quality products that meet customer needs and business objectives and Toyota remains compliance to its legal obligations. This role requires a deep understanding of project management best practices, the software development life cycle process, technologies, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Reporting to the OneTech Compliance, Audit and Trade Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the OneTech Digital Corporate Experience department's objective to partner with our TMNA customers to provide high value services, solutions and support to meet their business requirements and needs.
What you’ll be doing
Working with global trade systems, tariffs and a rapidly changing regulatory landscape.
Participate and lead working groups in tariff remediation, leveraging data analytics and trade systems to provide rapid insights to multiple business teams.
Contributing substantially to Toyota’s bottom line by optimizing trade flows and information availability to support rapid response and decision making.
Managing a portfolio of applications and projects on behalf of the Trade Compliance Team
Support customers in the US and Mexico with systems supporting the movement of goods across borders.
Gain a strong working knowledge of Trade and Tariff rules, regulations, upcoming legislation changes, and business processes to best represent the desired business outcomes using our portfolio of systems.
Leading non-technical customers through software development, data migration, data management, and business analysis efforts to establish requirements and explain outcomes for project requests.
Manage application development and support teams
Comfortable navigating highly matrixed IT organizations and completing administrative tasks for technology onboarding and ongoing management
Develop and maintain relationships with key business customers, upstream partners, and third parties in order to effectively manage the highly integrated portfolio and complex projects.
Serve as the technical product owner for Customs and Trade Compliance applications and keep customers informed of technical standards and best practices required by OneTech for application development, maintenance, and support
Provide direction to application support teams establishing work priorities and adherence to OneTech standards/best practices
Responsible for vendor, contract, and financial management across your portfolio
Partner with external OneTech teams to gain alignment on project deliverables, prioritization, and timing of delivery
What you bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field or demonstrated equivalent experience.
Experience working with global trade systems, tariffs and a rapidly changing regulatory landscape.
Minimum 7+ years of experience overseeing software platform implementations, web application development teams, and delivering technical solutions to support business processes
Proficiency in business process analysis to identify improvement opportunities through process mapping and requirements gathering.
Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices, translate business needs/requests into technical requirements, break down complex technical practices into easy-to-understand guidance and insights for technical teams and customers.
Added bonus if you have
Customs and Trade and/or cross-border logistics experience
Regulatory background or experience. Familiarity with global trade and logistics.
Spanish language proficiency.
Master’s Degree in Engineering or MBA
Data analytics experience using big data tools and concepts.
Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMP
