Job Description
In the role of Associate Blade Repair Engineer, you will be responsible for blade inspection, damage assessment, repair, finishing, and upkeep of wind turbine blades across different OEMs and WTG models. You will directly report to the State Blade Engineer under Self O&M. Your core job is to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of blades, coordinate with site teams for safe and uninterrupted turbine operation, and ensure compliance with repair standards
- Facilitate sites in maintaining blades in the most efficient manner across the service.
- Ensure optimum usage of blade repair tools, materials, and techniques.
- Suggest corrective/preventive measures to maintain blade health and minimize downtime.
- Evaluate and certify blade repair work executed by repair teams before handing over turbines to service.
- Drive continual improvements in blade repair processes and documentation.
- Maintain blade repair assets and coordinate procurement of new repair tools and consumables.
Specific Responsibilities
- Ensure round-the-clock readiness of blade repair resources at site.
- Undertake preventive and breakdown maintenance of blades and maintain documentation as per standards.
- Carry out inspections, damage assessments, and composite repair activities (lamination, bonding, sanding, painting).
- Perform rope access/blade platform work safely and efficiently.
- Handing over/taking over of repaired blades to service and clearing deficiencies.
- Create accurate repair records and documentation for new projects and ongoing service.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve blade-related issues including structural cracks, lightning damage, and surface erosion.
- Build blade repair capability at each site through training, spares, and backup materials.
- Prepare spare provision plans for blade repair consumables and tools.
- Ensure repair quality meets OEM and safety standards, with proper reporting to the concerned team.
- Track completion dates for pending blade repair works and report progress.
- Provide weekly updates to the State Blade Engineer and Service Head, seeking concurrence for critical repair decisions.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of composite materials and blade repair techniques.
- Familiarity with rope access systems, blade platforms, and safety harnesses.
- Knowledge of repairing tools operations and having good hands on experience.
- Software knowledge – MS Excel,
Profile & Eligible Criteria
- Education - Diploma/ITI/Supervisor/DET(Mechanical, Fitter, Related)
- Experience - 1 – 3 years
