Job Description
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists with management of inventory placement and accuracy both internally within the warehouse and technically in the system.
- Maintains bin location accuracy.
- Establishes and maintains backup source for high-demand items.
- Assists with inventory reporting, replacements, movements, reprofiling, replenishments, etc.
- Assists coworkers with inventory issues and works to solve them.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with coworkers and direct team.
- Assists to maintain system accuracy in SAP, Lucas, and any other related system in which is applicable.
- Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory which includes cycle counting.
- Assists with periodic (at least annual) physical and system inventory audits which includes cycle counting.
- Operates forklift truck when necessary; including high reach cherry picker and stand up.
- Maintains applicable forklift, equipment, and safety/training related certifications.
- Works with other members of inventory team and warehouse to develop and maintain best practices with inventory control.
- May be asked to work with teams from other departments and functions within Southwire to optimize best practices in relation to product placement physically and systematically.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Normal warehouse working conditions, 8-12 hour shifts.
- Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods.
- Must be capable of sitting for extended periods of time when required.
- Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to use proper techniques to lift 50-75 pounds.
- Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.
- When operating a forklift, may be constantly on and off of lift.
- Required Skills/Abilities/Education/Experience:
- High school diploma, or equivalent, is required.
- Professional communication skills with coworkers, management team and all Southwire employees. This includes in person and via Email and other related internal communications.
- Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
- Proficient PC technical skills with ability to possibly work prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to work with or manage transactions in multiple systems, including SAP, Lucas, Microsoft, etc. is required.
- Extremely organized and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrates the ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions and solve problems immediately.
- Must obtain a valid forklift truck operator’s license and keep in possession when operating forklift.
- Must be able to read, count accurately, do simple math (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and write legibly.
- The ability to follow directions and emphasis on safety is extremely important.
- Must have responsible work habits.
- Must be able to handle stress caused in meeting deadlines with tight scheduling requirements.
- Must be able to shift priorities easily.
