Description
Incumbent works as a member of leadership team with global responsibility for: facilitating the development of a strong EHS culture and an effective, efficient and compliant EHS process and establishing EHS working practices on the manufacturing, warehouse or distribution hub sites. This includes developing, maintaining and administering site policies and adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
The EHS Manager will coordinate and/or perform the site loss prevention and environmental compliance tasks in accordance with company, local, state, and federal regulations and standards. Administer and maintain permit requirements as required for air, water, and waste program compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and manage EHS programs and systems for global operations
- Coach and mentor leadership in EHS techniques and EHS leadership skills
- Identify EHS critical process and system needs and implement appropriate action plans.
- Establish agreement and alignment with regional operating goals and objectives.
- Promote a team environment, initiate/lead personnel and EHS activities.
- Assess the sites for adherence to EHS guidelines/regulations and identify/resolve regulatory risks.
- Provide planning related to EHS objectives and compliance, lead sites in planning for EHS success
- Establish and accomplish aggressive personal and global EHS goals
- Understand, implement, report and monitor EHS measures and metrics
- Establish and maintain regulatory compliance metrics. Report regulatory metrics to appropriate agencies.
- Ability to research and write effective EHS procedures and policies
- Maintain constructive relationships with internal and external customers
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
- Ability to research and write effective EHS procedures and policies
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience with implementing and maintaining effective EHS systems and programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to lead and influence others.
- Ability to research, draft, train, and maintain effective EHS procedures and policies.
- Demonstrated results leading others in the accomplishment of EHS objectives.
- Ability to work independently.
- Bachelor's Degree in related field such as Occupational Safety, Industrial Management, Engineering, Business or a related field (required).
- Five or more years of related experience (required). Master's degree in a relevant field could substitute for years of experience.
- Professional Certifications highly desired (CSP, CIH, CHMM, OHST).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, EHS Compliance Management System Software, SDS Management Software and Learning Management Systems.
- Continually required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
- Regularly required to sit or stand and to walk.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Regularly subjected to work near moving mechanical parts and to indoor temperature variations in a manufacturing environment.
- Occasionally subjected to fumes or airborne particles, as well as toxic or caustic chemicals.
