Job Title: Preschool Teacher- Spanish Immersion
Job Summary: To develop materials and lesson plans; conduct instruction; regularly evaluate instructional materials for grade appropriateness; and continually assess student development and performance. To regularly meet with parents / guardians / responsible adults and/or students to ensure everyone's clear understanding of that student's or students' overall performance in terms of strengths / weaknesses, progress / potential and any other observable characteristics, abilities or challenges which are affecting the student's or students' performance.
FTE/Hours per Day: 4 days/week, 7 hours/day, Monday-Thursday.
Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education, Birth-5, or Elementary Education with a pre-primary specialty licensure issued by the State of Minnesota
- Fluent Spanish speaker
- Demonstrated pattern of working effectively and building positive relationships with colleagues and parents
- Demonstrated pattern of building positive relationships with students coupled with consistent and powerful teaching strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cultural competency and a passion for working with and servicing diverse populations
- Ability to inspire and motivate others toward a shared vision

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares and conducts parent/child curriculum and activities in accordance with overall program policies and philosophies.
- Prepares curriculum and follows scope and sequence of required resources for preschool.
- Provides tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities.
- Create and implement intentional activities and conversations surrounding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the classroom.
- Provides timely and effective supervision and direction for assistants, interns, student teachers and volunteers.
- Meets with caregivers two times per year for student conferences and keeps them current and informed on program developments they need to know and follows up whenever possible to ensure the information and messages have been received.
- Assist the Program Administrator in regularly assessing and evaluating results being achieved as one basis for long range program planning.
- Attends and participates in regular staff meetings, professional development and other special program activities as scheduled.
- Makes referrals, in consultation with the Administrator if appropriate, to outside community resources, including follow-up on such referrals.
- Regularly assesses and evaluates one's own professional development needs including the necessary planning and strategies to satisfy those needs.
- Maintains various required records and data according to established program policies and procedures, ensuring the accurate and timely availability of such information as needed.
- Assist in program outreach and public relations activities as time permits or as requested and contributes thoughts and articles to the program newsletter when asked.
- Takes authentic data regularly.
- Enters assessment data at least two times per year.
- Performs other job-related duties as requested or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Formal preparation and required licensure by the State of MN.
- Knowledge and understanding of current practices in early childhood curriculum development and the ability to create curriculum, activities and approaches accordingly.
- Decisions on design, content and delivery alternatives which are consistent with the program and are appropriate for adults and children.
- Knowledge of and the ability to use and teach skills in group process, observing / recording child development and reinforcing positive parenting.
- Skills and ability to provide and ensure an honest, respectful, caring and safe learning environment.
- Knowledge of appropriate resources inside and outside the District is current and effectively applied.
- Demonstrates an interest to stay current and effective through the pursuit and completion of required continuing education and other applicable opportunities.
- Knowledge of existing electronic and/or hard-copy records management helps ensure the appropriate and secure use of all such information.
