Job Description

Job Title: Supervisor of Information Technology 

Pay Schedule:  Administrative & Technical Services Exempt, Lane 6

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to:  Chief Information Officer

 

JOB SUMMARY 

Administer the design, development, and implementation of technology projects, managing assigned Technology Services staff, and ensuring the effective operation of CCPS's technology infrastructure to support all instructional, administrative, and operational functions.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Leadership & Staff Supervision

  • Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate assigned IT personnel, including hiring, training, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to staff in assigned areas.
  • Serve as the primary contact for users and administrators regarding technology issues.

2. Technology Project Management

  • Coordinate and develop technology projects, including infrastructure design and maintenance, cyber-security standards and implementation.
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign work to staff; review work products and procedures
  • Evaluate operations and recommend improvements
  • Participate in the Technology Services Management Team.

3. Systems & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee procurement, deployment, and maintenance of hardware, software, and network systems
  • Manage wired/wireless data and voice networks, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, servers, and applications.
  • Ensure system integrity, data security, backups, and recovery procedures.

4. Technical Support & Operations

  • Provide leadership and technical support to school sites and Central office.
  • Oversee help desk operations
  • Troubleshoot complex problems with applications, servers, and network infrastructure.

5. Policy & Compliance

  • Develop and implement department policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to cybersecurity best practices and data governance standards
  • Serve as primary contact for state, local and independent technical audits.

6. Planning & Budgeting

  • Plan resource allocation, technology transitions, and budget impact documents.
  • Participate in budget preparation, cost estimates, and expenditure monitoring.

7. Professional Development

  • Stay current on technology trends, attend training, and share knowledge with the district.

     

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems or computer science and 5 years of experience related to Management Information Systems. A combination of courses specifically related to this area of expertise, training, and work experience may be substituted in lieu of the bachelor's degree.

  • Direct experience in on-premise and cloud-based networking technologies, specifically the Microsoft Product Portfolio. Professional certifications in these areas are preferred.

  • Direct experience managing Help Desk staff and systems.

  • Direct experience in client-based administration of Microsoft endpoint and Microsoft 365 product suite. 

  • Experience in the software development process.

  • Experience managing technical staff, associated resources, and projects.

  • Direct experience in budgetary processes, staff evaluations, and other management functions.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Expertise in IT systems, networks, and cybersecurity.
  • Knowledge of and practical experience with implementing customer service principles, techniques, systems, and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to lead, train, and motivate teams in a manner that effectively ensures the availability of technically competent, responsive, customer-oriented staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and vendors.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sedentary Work: Exerting minimal but not constant physical effort to perform sedentary work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (5 to 10 pounds), visual perception and discrimination, the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, perceive and discriminate color, perceive odors, and require oral communications.
