The Senior Collaboration Platform Engineer is a strategic technical leader responsible for architecting, engineering, optimizing, and governing Trane Technologies’ enterprise collaboration platforms. This role drives long-term strategy, solution design, automation frameworks, and platform standards across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
The senior engineer partners with global IT, Security, Enterprise Architecture, business stakeholders, and external vendors to deliver secure, scalable, resilient, and user-centered collaboration solutions. This role leads major initiatives including global rollouts, lifecycle management frameworks, AI-enabled workplace capabilities, M&A integrations, and cross-platform harmonization. They are also accountable for innovation, advanced automation, and shaping the future employee experience across the enterprise.
What you will do:
Engineering & Architecture
Architect and engineer collaboration platforms that align with enterprise architecture, security frameworks, and global business requirements.
Lead design of advanced configurations, integrations, automation frameworks, and platform-level capabilities across Microsoft 365.
Own enterprise lifecycle engineering, including roadmap planning, feature governance, update channels, and service resiliency models.
Platform Governance & Standards
Develop, enforce, and continuously enhance enterprise-wide governance frameworks for Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, and related services.
Establish standards, architectural principles, and reference patterns for collaboration technologies.
Identify and implement methodologies and tooling that improve platform scalability, reliability, and compliance.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Serve as a senior technical advisor to IT leadership, Security, and enterprise program owners regarding collaboration strategy and integrations.
Lead collaboration architecture for M&A due diligence, platform harmonization, migration design, and integration execution.
Communicate risks, architectural decisions, design tradeoffs, and strategic recommendations clearly and effectively to senior leaders.
Operational Excellence & Escalation Ownership
Serve as highest-level escalation point for critical or complex collaboration issues with broad business impact.
Guide problem management practices, including root-cause analysis and long-term platform resiliency improvements.
Lead knowledge transfer, capability uplift, and mentoring across engineering and operations teams.
Innovation, Automation & Continuous Improvement
Lead the development of enterprise automation capabilities (PowerShell, Graph API, workflow orchestration) to reduce operational overhead and improve service reliability.
Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and Microsoft 365 advancements—including AI and Copilot scenarios—and recommend strategic adoption.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on lean and agile principles, elevating user experience and platform efficiency.

Microsoft 365 Apps (Office, Loop, OneNote, Forms)
Power Platform (Governance, integration guidelines, automation patterns)
Copilot and AI-enhanced M365 experiences
Identity & security dependencies (Entra ID awareness, Conditional Access impacts)
What you will bring:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related IT technical field (Master’s or advanced certifications preferred).
7+ years of deep technical experience engineering and supporting Microsoft 365 collaboration ecosystems.
Expertise in Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, and cloud-based architecture patterns.
Advanced Technical Competencies
Expert-level understanding of M365 architecture, governance, integration, and operational engineering.
Strong proficiency with automation (PowerShell, Graph API, workflow orchestration).
Familiarity with voice engineering (Teams Voice), conference room technologies, and global communication dependencies.
Ability to translate complex architectural concepts to technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
Experience leading platform modernization, M&A migrations, and enterprise-scale collaboration initiatives.
