Job Description

Merchandising & Planning · Corporate Headquarters - Louisville, CO

Location: Louisville, CO (hybrid – 4 days/week in office)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $60,000-$70,000 annually, dependent on experience
Reports to: Sr. Merchandise and Visual Manager
Travel: ~30%, including seasonal store visits, market tours, new store openings, and brand activations

Do you love creating spaces that invite people in, tell a thoughtful product story, and make the outdoors feel a little closer?

At Fjällräven, our mission is to inspire the world to walk with nature. In our stores, that mission comes to life through more than products on our shelves; it shows up in how we guide, educate, outfit, and welcome each guest. As our Retail Visual Specialist, you’ll help shape that experience across our North American retail stores.

This role sits at the intersection of creativity and commercial impact. You’ll translate seasonal product priorities, brand storytelling, and retail strategy into clear, inspiring, easy-to-shop store presentations. From building floor sets to styling layered outdoor looks to developing asset briefs, training store teams, and testing concepts in the HQ showroom, you’ll help ensure that Fjällräven shows up consistently, beautifully, and practically in every retail environment.

Come walk with us.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As Retail Visual Specialist, you’ll partner closely with the Sr. Merchandise and Visual Manager, the Director of Brand Stores, Regional Store Managers, Marketing, Product, and Retail teams to bring brand and merchandising strategy to life in stores.

Visual Merchandising & Store Experience

  • Execute seasonal floor sets, window displays, and product storytelling aligned with Fjällräven brand standards

  • Maintain visual standards that are clean, full, functional, and easy to shop

  • Translate brand direction into locally relevant store presentations while maintaining consistency across the fleet

  • Style mannequins and outfitting moments that reflect real outdoor use, layered functionality, and thoughtful product pairings

  • Support store teams with visual trainings, seasonal direction, and in-store guidance

  • Develop seasonal visual guides and a Visual Principles Guide to support consistent floor presentation

Commercial Focus & Product Storytelling

  • Use sales data, product knowledge, and retail insights to inform visual decisions

  • Identify opportunities to highlight key categories and support product growth across different markets

  • Drive multi-item outfitting through intentional placement, adjacency, and storytelling

  • Support in-store initiatives, seasonal launches, retail campaigns, and key item strategies

  • Provide feedback from stores and showroom testing to help inform future visual, merchandising, and product decisions

Asset Briefs & Visual Communication

  • Identify gaps and opportunities in the store environment and develop clear asset briefs to support storytelling and commercial needs

  • Create brand-aligned briefs for signage, props, and visual assets that elevate product stories

  • Partner with Marketing and Product teams to ensure messaging is consistent across channels

  • Adapt and implement visual assets that are relevant to local stores and customers

HQ Showroom Ownership & Testing

  • Own and evolve the Fenix North America HQ showroom as a best-in-class expression of Fjällräven retail standards

  • Use the showroom as a testing ground for seasonal VM concepts, floor sets, layouts, fixtures, and product adjacencies

  • Capture learnings from showroom testing and translate insights into clear recommendations for store rollout

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align showroom direction with seasonal priorities

  • Help maintain the showroom, product cage, and storage areas so the office remains functional, organized, and inviting for staff and guests

Collaboration, Training, & Field Support

  • Act as a connector between Retail, Merchandising, Marketing, and Product, ensuring alignment from concept through execution

  • Partner with the Director of Brand Stores and Regional Store Managers to understand market-specific needs and field realities

  • Attend and contribute to strategy and concept calls related to retail visuals, seasonal flips, windows, assortments, and campaigns

  • Train and support store teams on visual standards, product storytelling, and outfitting, both virtually and in person

  • Travel seasonally to brand stores to validate execution, elevate visual standards, support new store openings, and contribute to retail community activations

WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT

You’re someone who sees both the art and the purpose behind visual merchandising. You notice how a fixture, outfit, sign, or product story can change the way a guest moves through a store. You bring:

  • 2+ years of retail visual merchandising experience

  • An associate degree or certification in merchandising, visual merchandising, or a related field

  • Strong understanding of retail operations, store execution, and customer flow

  • Experience developing visual briefs, whiteboards, seasonal guides, or store-facing direction

  • A strong eye for styling, balance, outfitting, and storytelling

  • Ability to use sales data and product knowledge to support visual decisions

  • Clear, thoughtful cross-functional communication skills (written and verbal)

  • A hands-on, adaptable, and solutions-oriented approach

  • Confidence in training, guiding, and supporting store teams

  • A collaborative, friendly, and engaging working style

  • Passion for the outdoors, sustainability, and responsible retail is a strong asset

Preferred (but not required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Visual Communication or Design, Marketing, Business Administration with a related minor, or another closely related program with direct experience to apparel merchandising

  • Apparel retail experience, especially within outdoor, lifestyle, or specialty retail environments

  • Ability to bend, walk, kneel, reach overhead, and support hands-on store and showroom setup

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer monitor for extended periods, including use of keyboard and monitors

  • Ability to travel estimated 30% of the time, including travel to stores throughout the US and Canada as needed
