Position Summary:
The School Psychologist supports the intellectual, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students through a range of services including assessment, consultation, intervention, and collaboration with school staff and families. The role is essential in helping students overcome barriers to learning and succeed in school.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct psychological evaluations for students referred for academic, behavioral, or emotional concerns
  • Administer and interpret appropriate assessment tools
  • Prepare comprehensive written reports and share results with families and school teams
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Provide counseling, behavioral intervention, and crisis support
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success
  • Support development of Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Participate in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings and other team-based supports

Job Requirements � Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in psychological assessment methods and data interpretation
  • Ability to support diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English learners
  • Experience with counseling and behavior management
  • Knowledge of child development and trauma-informed practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Connecticut and federal special education regulations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to confidentiality

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience in a school or clinical setting
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred
  • Experience working with culturally and economically diverse students

Education/Certification Requirements:

  • Master's or Sixth Year Degree in School Psychology or related field
  • Must hold or be eligible for Connecticut certification as School Psychologist (070)

Salary:
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the current agreement between the Danbury Board of Education and the NEA-Danbury.
