Manage loading and unloading freight by hand or by using manual equipment such as hand truck or pallet jack or forklift. Verify and note the count and condition of cargo received, knowing when to refuse or accept with notation. Record receipts to appropriate forms and/or log books. Verify that proper documentation is attached.
Sort cargo received by account or intended location and store in proper location. Accurately label freight to destination.
Shuttle empty and full trailers within dock area and parking lots. Transport freight from storage dock area or trailers to designated area. Secure lifting attachments to freight to move to assigned location. Stack or assemble freight into bundles and band bundles together on pallets.
Maintain clean work area. Clean out trailers if needed prior to moving them.
May be required to perform post or pre-load inspections on trailers and document condition of equipment and trailers before re-use or reloading.
Verify and report damages as discovered. Perform daily yard check.
