Job Description
Position: Student Success Coordinator Reports To: Principal or Designee
Qualifications:
- Must possess a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction or related field; LBS1 Endorsement preferred.
- Experience working with data from various types of student assessments, including assessments required by the State of Illinois and other norm/criterion-referenced tests.
- Experience with MTSS working with students in various academic levels and capacities
- Possess strong communication, organizational, analytical, and written skills.
- Demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to interact positively with teachers and administrators
- Prior experience working with adult learners
- Possess knowledge of the school improvement process
- Possess technological proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
- Experience using PowerSchool is a plus.
Basic Function: This is a partially grant-funded position. Position is responsible for analyzing and interpreting assessment data as it relates to individual student achievement and to the performance of Title I schools. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential data files of student achievement and will work to support data literacy training for teachers and administrators in the use of data to improve instruction. This position will also apply appropriate statistical measurements to data; review school and state data to develop comparison trends; design and develop reports as requested; and provide instructional assistance to teachers. Additionally, the role of the Student Success Coordinator is to build teacher capacity and their understanding of instructional practices as related to Common Core and Data Driven Instruction. The Student Success Coordinator will demonstrate and model a passion for urban education reform and leadership. This is NOT a supervisory position; however it may include the informal evaluation of staff. This position reports to the building Principal.
- Coordinate all school wide state and local assessments
- Analyze and prepare reports from local, state, and national assessment data as it relates to individual student performance and school improvement.
- Develop and maintain historical student and school data files to monitor and track performance.
- Interpret and review assessment data with administrators and teachers; support planning of action steps
- Compile data from multiple assessments to develop student, subject, grade-level, or school achievement profiles.
- Work with staff in one-on-one and group settings to conduct training in the use of data to improve student results.
- Ensure the validity of all data presented to staff.
- Attend, and lead as appropriate, training sessions and site meetings related to assigned responsibilities.
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Model lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis.
- Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the curriculum and varied assessments, the Framework for Teaching, and data analysis.
- Build strong relationships with teachers and administrators.
- Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with District initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
- Create an articulated schedule with building administration.
- Assist teachers in understanding Patton's mission and vision.
- Provide technical support to collaborative teams within buildings.
- Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
- Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels.
- Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
- Support teachers by helping with the strategic how of teaching -- share multiple instructional strategies/processes with teachers during planning times.
- Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teacher's professional growth and students' success.
- Develop staff members' knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs.
- Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement.
- Utilize Adult Learning Theory to motivate adult learners to improve professional practice.
- Contribute to the development systems and structures to improve teacher practice within schools.
- Provide job-embedded informal professional learning.
- Submit a weekly coaching log and any pertinent data requests/coaching documentation.
- All other duties as assigned by Administration.
