Position Summary
The Summer Operations Worker supports the maintenance and upkeep of school buildings and grounds. This role assists the Operations team with a variety of custodial, maintenance, and campus improvement tasks to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support maintenance and custodial staff with general upkeep of buildings and grounds
- Assist with cleaning, painting, light landscaping, and other campus projects
- Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed
- Safely use basic hand tools and equipment (training provided as needed)
Perform other duties as assigned
Scope and Impact
This position contributes to the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of campus facilities. Work is performed under direct supervision with clearly defined tasks and expectations.
Qualifications
Required
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work collaboratively
Preferred
- Previous experience with maintenance, custodial work, or landscaping
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and equipment
- Preference may be given to students receiving financial aid
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Attention to safety and detail
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and humidity
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods
Compensation and Schedule
- Hourly position: $16.60 per hour
- Full-time hours during the assignment period
- Schedule may vary based on operational needs
