The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $105,700 - $142,900. The offered salary will be based on the candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills and qualifications.
Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) currently has an exciting opportunity for a Solution Architect to support our Information Services (IS) department. This is a full-time opportunity and will report to the Manager of Enterprise Business Solutions.
The selected candidate will partner with other Architects in defining and maintaining TCI’s solution architecture blueprint focused on efficiency. This role will lead research in COTS solutions and emerging technologies and promote developmental initiatives to introduce new tools and new technology to TCI’s application landscape.

What You’ll be Doing:
Technical & Architecture Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction across multiple initiatives and delivery teams
- Lead solution architecture design from concept through implementation, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, security requirements, and business objectives
- Create, and approve solution designs, identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities for reuse and optimization
- Contribute to the creation and evolution of the application architecture function, selection and adoption of frameworks and methodologies
- Formulate plans to discontinue use of obsolete or low-value architecture components
- Document IS Application Architecture using multiple architectural models or views that show how the current and future needs of the organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable, and adaptable manner across TCI’s application portfolio
- Collaborate with local, regional IS teams to deliver enterprise solutions that are scalable, adaptable and in synchronization with evolving business needs
- Act as liaison with technology partners and vendors on Application Architecture issues
- Work with the IS leadership to recommend and provide input to its strategy, architecture and supporting standards
Software Lifecycle and Process Improvements
- Guide application design and provide technical leadership to ensure alignment to business objectives, application lifecycle and reduction of costs
- Collaborate with other IS stakeholders to create and document standards and patterns that can be leveraged for future re-use and actively seek opportunities to leverage industry solutions for new business offerings and services
- Review existing and emerging technologies and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise’s strategy and architecture; develop strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and business functions
- Ensure technical integrity and consistency of the solution on every stage of its lifecycle
- Assist with the automation of software deployments using configuration management technology
Best Practices and Collaboration
- Compile business needs, process information and technical requirements to produce an optimal, high level, analysis and conceptual design for projects and new solutions
- Involvement in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of Information Technology within the enterprise
- Steer and guide the creation and maintenance of the software design (application architecture) strategy and direction
- Work with third party vendors to develop and/or integrate their applications into TCI’s solutions; ensure that applications are in accordance with company product standards and guidelines
- Provide education, coaching, and guidelines to IS practice on the use of enterprise architecture tools, technology, and standards
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
- 8-10 years of experience in application development and system integration, including:
- On‑premises and AWS cloud environments
- Java/J2EE‑based solutions
- SaaS and PaaS platforms
- Multiple database technologies
- Integration across diverse enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, MuleSoft, Salesforce, Okta Technologies, Adobe AEM, Java Liberty servers)
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in application design and architecture, with strong hands‑on experience in solution conceptualization, modelling, and design
- Experience working in complex, multi‑platform environments, including Unix, Windows, SaaS/PaaS solutions, and AWS
- Strong process improvement mindset with the ability to lead cross‑functional discussions and drive consensus and positive outcomes
- Broad understanding of IS management practices and technology issues, including SDLC, infrastructure and application design, development tools, support, project and process management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to clearly present technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Deep understanding of ITIL and Business Process Management (BPM) practices using tools like ServiceNow
- Experience working on Development and Production Support teams
