Description

Aurora Energy Research is looking for people with passion for the energy sector to join our Advisory team in Mexico. We are seeking recent graduates, and prior professional experience is not necessarily required for this role.

Based in Mexico (CDMX), you will contribute to the firm, by developing analysis and conveying insights to enhance clients’ decision making. This is a client‑facing advisory role, where your work will directly support strategic, financial, and investment decisions made by senior stakeholders.

You will play an active role in all aspects of client engagement: helping identify issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, and synthesising conclusions into clear, actionable recommendations with an interest in structured problem-solving and advisory work.

Successful candidates will work in a dynamic, and intellectually stimulating, yet supportive environment. They will enjoy autonomy, the opportunity to substantially influence major decisions in the energy sector, and to grow into industry experts.

The position suits a recent graduate of a bachelor’s or master’s programme who is motivated to build a career in energy advisory and consulting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop timely and rigorous quantitative analyses to enhance clients’ decision-making
  • Work closely with our modelling team, structuring economic problems into quantifiable analyses and deriving insights from the model results 
  • Contribute to Aurora’s product development, by identifying new opportunities and expanding our capabilities
  • Engage with clients to thoroughly understand their requirements
  • Communicate and present findings to clients


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required attributes:
  • Degree in a relevant quantitative field, with a strong academic record and outstanding Grade Point Average 
  • Interest in or knowledge of the Mexican power market and associated policy frameworks
  • An ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex quantitative data and information
  • Evidence of strong performance in team-oriented environments
  • Evidence of dedication and commitment to set objectives and goals
  • An ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical parties
  • Proficiency in English (C1 level or above)
  • Proficiency in Spanish (C2 level)

Desirable attributes:
  • Experience in conducting analysis on power markets
  • Competence in advanced data analytics (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, Advanced Excel)
