Description

Aurora’s mission is to provide data-driven intelligence to support the energy transition. To support this mission, we are looking for a (Senior) Analyst to join our Research team in Austin, Texas. This position is being recruited at the Analyst level, with the potential to hire at Senior Analyst for candidates who demonstrate prior experience and impact relevant to the role. Most successful candidates will be hired as Analysts, and Senior Analyst appointments are made selectively based on demonstrated scope, autonomy, and expertise. 

Aurora has developed a market-leading suite of services which provide analytics and insights to players across the North American power markets – helping to shine a light on developments across the power market and industry. Our services comprise Power and Renewable Market Services for the major North American power markets. Together, these provide insights on the development of power markets and implications for a range of power assets, as well as policy and strategy across North America.

Based in Austin, Texas, you will develop analysis and convey insights to enhance clients’ decision-making. You will play an active role in all aspects of research and client engagement: helping identify issues, form hypotheses, conduct analysis, and synthesize conclusions into recommendations.

The successful applicant will combine strong quantitative ability with a strong track record of performance in team-oriented environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop timely and rigorous quantitative analyses to enhance clients’ decision-making.
  • Work closely with our modeling team, structuring economic problems into quantifiable analyses, and deriving insights from the model results.
  • Contribute to Aurora’s product development by identifying new opportunities and expanding our capabilities.
  • Engage with clients to thoroughly understand their requirements.
  • Communicate findings to clients.


What we are looking for

Required attributes: 
  • An ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex information 
  • An ability to communicate and collaborate with a range of people 
  • A clear passion and interest for the energy industry 
  • Evidence of strong quantitative skills 
  • Evidence of strong performance in team-oriented environments and project management 
A college degree is required with evidence of strong academic performance in: 
  •  A quantitative subject (e.g. Math, Economics, Physics, Engineering, Finance) and/or; 
  •  A social science, environmental studies or a related field, coupled with an interest in quantitative analysis 
Desirable attributes: 
  • Experience with statistical tools and techniques 
  • Experience with at least one programming language, e.g. SQL, Matlab, Python, R, etc. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel 
  • Knowledge of optimization would be a plus. 
The successful candidate would start Monday, August 10th, 2026. The Analyst and Senior Analyst titles reflect differences in prior experience, scope, and independence. Title and compensation are determined through the interview process.
