Position:
The Mine Operations Controller is responsible for leading the financial and operational control environment at the mine sites, ensuring accurate cost reporting, operations accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with internal controls and corporate policies. This role partners closely with site operations, technical services, supply chain, metallurgy, and corporate finance to provide timely analysis of mining, processing, and capital costs, while supporting operational decision-making in a dynamic gold mining environment.
The successful candidate will establish strong financial discipline across mine site activities, improve reporting processes, and provide meaningful insights into unit costs, variances, recoveries, inventory movements, and capital project performance.

Responsibilities
Support monthly close process for mine sites, including accruals, allocations, inventory models, cost allocations and accounting for capital projects.
Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly cost reports covering mining, processing, G&A, and capital spend. Monitor and report key operating KPIs, including cost per tonne mined, cost per tonne milled, recovery rates, strip ratios, development meters, and cash costs and AISC drivers.
Manage preparation of monthly management reports.
Partner with operations teams to track tonnes mined, grades, recoveries, ounces produced, and unit costs against budget and forecast. Manage and review Vena inputs for each operations report.
Support preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and life-of-mine financial models in collaboration with technical and operational teams.
Support inventory controls and classifications over ore stockpiles, doré, concentrates, carbon, reagents, spare parts, fuel, and consumables.
Coordinate production reconciliations between mine, mill, metallurgy, and refinery data.
Support internal controls over purchase requisitions, purchase orders, goods receipts, invoices, and payment approvals.
Review contractor mining and development invoices against contract terms, progress, and measured quantities.
Oversee fixed asset and capital project accounting for sustaining and growth capital initiatives.
Support insurance claims, incident cost tracking, and asset impairment assessments as required.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Ensure compliance with SOX/internal controls.
Qualifications
CPA, CMA, CA, or equivalent professional accounting designation preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
7+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 7 years in mining.
Strong understanding of mine costing, production reporting, inventory accounting, and capital project controls.
Experience supporting gold mining operations, including open pit, underground, heap leach.
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with ERP systems.
Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-financial stakeholders in a fast-paced site environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Willingness to work at a mine site location and travel as required.
