Assistant/Associate/Professor - Physiology (Dept. of Health Sciences Education & Pathology)

Position Summary The individual in this position will contribute to the education of medical students; participate in service opportunities within the department, campus, and college; and actively engage in medical education research and/or scholarly activities. Duties Responsibilities Develop and deliver medical physiology and pathophysiology curriculum that incorporates clinically relevant principles using currently available technology, including educational modules, video, virtual reality, etc. to support the undergraduate medical curriculum. Employ multiple methods of pedagogy, including case-based instruction, large- and small-group discussion, lecture, demonstration, simulation, and team-based learning. Work collaboratively with faculty from other basic science/clinical science departments and across UI COM campuses to implement curriculum, including course schedules, materials, and exams. Develop, review, and modify formative and summative assessments, including NBME style multiple choice questions. Engage in medical education scholarship. Serve on selected department, campus and college committees or taskforces as requested/assigned. Facilitate a minimum of 3-4 core cases for each curriculum block either in large or small group. Serve in academic leadership roles (Block Lead, Block Director, Course Director) Provide an exemplar professional, safe learning environment for medical students Serve as an academic faculty student advisor during pre-clerkship curriculum Collaborate to develop clinical electives and potential areas of integration into clinical rotations Serve as a student advisor within curricular programs Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
