Job Description
Job Summary : The RM A (Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability) Specialist performs engineering analyses to ensure the long-term operational readiness and mission success of naval navigation suites and sensor systems. This role involves modeling and assessing the performance of complex hardware such as the AN/WSN-7, AN/WSN-12, and DHYSL. The Specialist identifies potential failure modes, predicts maintenance requirements, and recommends design or process improvements to maximize system uptime and operational availability for the U.S. Navy. Principal Duties and Responsibilities : Reliability Modeling : Develop and maintain reliability block diagrams and mathematical models for inertial and non-inertial maritime sensors. Failure Analysis : Lead Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to identify system vulnerabilities and mission-critical failure points. Data Trending : Analyze field performance data and maintenance records to calculate Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR). Availability Assessments : Conduct operational availability (Ao) simulations to determine the impact of component reliability and supply chain logistics on fleet readiness. Maintainability Studies : Evaluate system designs for ease of maintenance, accessibility, and the effectiveness of built-in test (BIT) capabilities. Technical Reporting : Prepare comprehensive RM A reports for Navy program offices to support design reviews, lifecycle sustainment, and "Life-of-Type" buy decisions
