Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION � Paraprofessional III- ESS TSW

TITLE: Paraprofessional III- ESS Job Coach FTE: 0.875

FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt  HOURS PER DAY: 7

WORK CALENDAR: 195 days

COMPENSATION: Classified Non Exempt Compensation Guide (Starting at $18.70/hour) 

 

Each Job Coach will be assigned to two high schools and will split their workday between an early-start and late-start high school.

 

These positions support students in completing job responsibilities on their respective campuses. Job Coaches will provide training, supervision, and encouragement as students work in various school-based placements such as: Bookstore, Maintenance, Cafeteria, Equipment Management and others as needed

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To assist the teacher in providing the care, welfare, and safety of the students. Assist in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively.
  2. Train and monitor students in school-based job placements
  3. Provide weekly progress updates to the TSW program supervisor
  4. Drive and supervise students during field trips and CBI events
  5. Support the implementation of modifications per individual student plans
  6. Assists with learning activities within the general education and/or special education classroom
  7. Monitors classroom assignments given by the teacher
  8. Maintains confidential classroom student files and records
  9. Assists with the implementation of instruction modifications per the Individualized Education Plan
  10. Communicates with teachers and parents regarding the students' needs and progress
  11. Prepares materials for classroom use
  12. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues
  13. Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community
  14. Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner
  15. Maintain punctual and regular attendance
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications for this job description are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education / Certificate

1. Associate of Arts degree or paraprofessional certification required

2. Must obtain and maintain CPR and first aid certification

3. Must sign an AHCSS Provider Participation Agreement and obtain a provider number as required

4. Must obtain activity bus certification (district provides training) 

5. Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

 

 

 

 

Experience

1. Prior experience working with special needs children desired

2. Must be 21 years of age or older upon hire

 

Communication Skills

1. Must possess a positive attitude toward students, teachers, staff and parents/guardians

2. Must possess the ability to take and follow directions

3. Must be proficient in the use of the English language, both verbal and written

4. Must possess a warmth and understanding for special needs students

 

Computer Skills

1.Must possess basic computing and clerical skills
