Starting Date: 07/01/2027

Salary: $115,000 - $165,000 (depending on experience)
Contract: 242 contract days, 24 vacation days

Description:
The Director of School Safety and Risk Management coordinates districtwide school safety, emergency preparedness, risk management, incident response, claims coordination, and loss prevention efforts across the district.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional experience in school safety, emergency management, public safety, risk management, insurance claims management, or a related field.
  • K-12 school district experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and respond professionally to sensitive or urgent situations.

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate districtwide school safety, emergency preparedness, and incident response efforts.
  • Support the development, review, and implementation of school and district emergency operations plans.
  • Coordinate emergency drills, reunification planning, response procedures, and facility safety practices.
  • Assist schools and departments with safety-related incidents, documentation, follow-up, and training.
  • Build strong working relationships and coordinate with school leaders, law enforcement, school resource officers, fire/EMS, emergency management, the Utah State Board of Education, state risk management representatives, and other partners.
  • Support compliance with applicable school safety, risk management, workplace safety, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate district risk management functions, including incident reporting, property and liability claims, workers' compensation coordination, insurance documentation, and loss prevention.
  • Identify safety and risk management needs, gaps, trends, and priorities across district schools and facilities.
  • Develop practical systems for tracking incidents, claims, trainings, drills, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Prepare reports, summaries, recommendations, and other documentation as requested.
