Temporary Special Education Teacher (Summer 2026)
Since 1966, the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) has been dedicated to providing innovative, high-quality, and cost-effective educational programs and services to meet the diverse needs of children and adults in Greater Hartford. Serving 33 member districts and reaching additional communities statewide, CREC supports approximately 12,000 students annually through more than 120 educational programs. Our offerings include professional learning and coaching for educators, specialized programming for students with diverse needs, and PreK-12 education across 16 interdistrict magnet schools. Additionally, CREC provides school construction, operations, and cooperative business services, while also delivering programs that help adults build real, job-ready skills.
Location: River Street School, Windsor, CT
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Special Education Teachers needed to staff summer school program on a temporary basis between 3 and 6 weeks, at a school for Autistic/Special Ed students.
- Responsible for all classroom teacher duties, including but not limited to individual IEP/program development and implementation, report writing, parental communication, supervision of assigned staff, data collection and interpretation, and student performance assessment.
- Work as a team member with other related service staff.
- May be required to diaper, change, shower, and feed students.
Requirements:
A current CT DOE certification in Special Education is preferred.
Bachelor degree required.
NOTE:
This is a summer only position, the weeks are between July 1 to August 11, 2026. There is a minimum 3 week commitment, however the full 6 weeks is preferred.
