Job Description

Prairie View Middle School, a 27J School, located in Henderson, CO is looking for a dedicated individual to assist in meeting the needs of students and families struggling with regular school attendance issues and resulting academic achievement challenges.

This position will be 2 days a week. 

SALARY:  Classified Grade O, $23.98 per hour to start, depending on recent relevant experience. 10 hours per day, 2 days a week on the 9-month position. Position is not eligible for benefits.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor student attendance, grades, credits, and other measures of academic success. Notify parents if students are not being successful/are not on track to graduate, facilitate efforts to increase student success, help prepare attendance contracts as requested, and refer to District Attendance Office if necessary.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication between school staff and families in the community by performing home visits, arranging meetings with parents, and translating or arranging for translation between staff and parents on an as needed basis or upon request from teachers, social workers, nurses, psychologist, counselors, principal, special education staff, and District Attendance Officer.
  • To increase student compliance with school attendance policies, reduce truancy through appropriate referrals for available services and assist with provays a weekiding pre-court interventions to students and their families who are designated as habitually truant under Colorado's compulsory school attendance law CRS 22-33-107.
  • Investigate and connect with community social service agencies. Refer struggling families to community resource providers who can potentially meet their needs.
  • Complete required District, State, and Federal Forms and maintain accurate record keeping.
  • Transport students and parents between home and school in an emergency.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.


EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 months to 2 years of experience in knowing of human services available in the community.
  • Coordination, negotiation, mediation, interpersonal, and excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals from all types of backgrounds.
  • Must possess professional appearance/demeanor.
  • Operating knowledge of general office equipment, including copier, fax machine, and telephones.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Infinite Campus.
