POSITION DESCRIPTION
Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and innovative Career Focused Education Coordinator to fulfill a vacancy in the district. This coordinator will be expected to provide leadership and administrative support to promote student success. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
- Career and technical education classroom experience and certification preferred
- Experience as an outstanding secondary/postsecondary teacher, principal, or administrator
- Demonstrated skill in fiscal management, business and program development
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with people of all ages
- Flexibility in schedule to adhere to year-round needs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work in conjunction with the Associate Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, the Teaching, Learning & Technology (TLT) department, and Business Office.
- Oversee the Career Development Facilitator (CDF) positions.
- Collaborate with career development facilitators, counselors, and elementary tech teachers on the completion of Educational Development Plans (EDPs) for all K-12 students.
- Manage Added Costs (61a) Funds (budgeting, reporting, compliance).
- Manage the Career Readiness and FIRST Robotics Grants (application, budgeting, invoicing, reporting, compliance).
- Provide opportunities for students to experience the five targeted career sectors as identified by Oakland Schools: construction, health sciences, IT, advanced manufacturing and TMLE.
- Purchase needed supplies and resources for the CTE and Career Readiness programs.
- Facilitate meetings with CTE teachers and the Career Readiness Team.
- Attend monthly meetings facilitated by Oakland Schools to network, learn about changes in reporting/compliance and to hear about new opportunities for students.
- Ensure CTE teachers have Work Based Learning (WBL) opportunities for students.
- Coordinate Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) with teachers.
- Support teachers in planning CTE and Career Readiness field trips/experience events.
- Provide opportunities and technical assistance for CTE teachers throughout the year to work on their CIP Self Reviews.
- Provide professional development opportunities for CTE teachers.
- Coordinate CTE guest teachers/inservice calendar for MDE required professional development opportunities.
- Coordinate credential opportunities for students with CTE teachers.
- Manage CTE specific software licenses (Xello, Adobe, CodeHS, Certiport, Stukent, Pathful, etc.).
- Work with HR and mentor CTE teachers who need an Annual Career Authorization (ACA).
- Continue seeking out CTE programs to support student opportunities in changing fields.
- Collaborate with HR and principals to attract and retain needed CTE-certified teachers.
- Understanding and monitoring of budgets (experience with Excel program preferred).
- Work with HVS Robotics coaches to meet the needs of their program and facilitate communication with District personnel.
- Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree or higher. Career and technical education experience preferred.
LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
