Emotional Impairment Program Teacher

Clear Lake Elementary School

2026-27 School Year

Primary Function: To provide an effective instructional program for students with Emotional Impairment programming. To ensure that all students learn the basic and essential skills as outlined in district, state, and federal guidelines.

Qualifications – Education & Experience:

  1. Valid Michigan teaching certification with special education endorsement in Emotional Impairment.
  2. Minimum of bachelor's degree.
  3. Experience in teaching preferred.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Knowledge of techniques of modification and accommodation as they relate to the general education curriculum.
  2. Demonstrates a full understanding of Emotional Impairments, social-emotional learning needs, and how specially designed instruction should be delivered.
  3. Proficient in developing Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance, measurable goals and objectives, and behavior plans.
  4. Experience supporting functional behavior assessments and creation of positive behavior support plans.
  5. Assesses students' achievement and develops instructional strategies to meet individual educational needs of students in the assigned area of responsibility.
  6. Implements developmentally appropriate curriculum and strategies for students assigned to the classroom
  7. Participates in multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings and prepares reports and multi-disciplinary plans for assigned students, in collaboration with a team including parents.
  8. Participates in the implementation of health care procedures in accordance with administrative operating procedures.
  9. Coordinates and implements behavior intervention plans in accordance with district policy and state/federal rules and regulations.
  10. Maintains cooperative working relationships with parents, staff, other school district personnel and community services agencies.
  11. Collaborates with general education staff to foster inclusion opportunities for students with IEPs.
  12. Maintains effective and timely written and oral communication with parents, staff and other school personnel.
  13. Maintains documentation regarding student progress and communicates regularly with students and parents.
  14. Prepares and implements daily lesson plans consistent with each student's IEP.
  15. Knowledge and experience for teaching pre-academic and academic subjects, as well as functional independence skills.
  16. Participates in staff meetings, in-service activities, staff development/special programs, school improvement teams and planning committees as appropriate to the assignment.
  17. Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures.
  18. Maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance.
  19. Support the Oxford Community Schools vision and mission.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary: Per Oxford Education Association Salary Schedule
