Job Description

This posting is for a full-time Custodial Foreman position for Caesar Rodney School District. This position reports to the Supervisor of Facilities Management. 

 

The incumbent in this essential position oversees and supports the work of Chief Custodians, Assistant Chief Custodians, and Custodians throughout the Caesar Rodney School District. This position requires the individual to be able to climb ladders, consistently lift 50 pounds, and complete tasks as assigned. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with CRSD staff while serving as a liaison to the Supervisor of Facilities Management.
  • Supervise the work of District custodial staff.
  • Coordinate meetings with Building Chiefs.
  • Exercise sound analytical judgment in identifying and resolving operational issues within areas of responsibility.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of interior and exterior equipment.
  • Coordinate the service, maintenance, and repair of building equipment as needed.
  • Conduct routine inspections of school facilities to ensure district standards are met.
  • Manage custodial work order processes across all district facilities.
  • Review work orders regularly and provide coaching to users of the work order system.
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately, satisfactorily, and in a timely manner by building staff.
  • Perform maintenance-related tasks through work orders as needed.
  • Manage custodial and building-level inventory of supplies.
  • Ensure all custodial and maintenance equipment is properly inventoried and accounted for.
  • Monitor and approve requisitions in accordance with State of Delaware procurement laws.
  • Consult with vendors and contractors to secure quotes, schedule services, and monitor contracted work.
  • Coordinate staff training.
  • Coordinate district-wide custodial substitute coverage.
  • Coordinate district and state-wide custodial training initiatives.
  • Coordinate collaboration between building custodians and District Office staff for special events and activities.
  • Respond to weather-related protocols (snow, ice, flooding etc.)
  • Respond to emergency service calls.
  • Serve as Facilities Foreman when required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor consistent with the essential functions of the position.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and General Construction work and supervision.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicant must possess a high school diploma; certificate of completion, and/or GED.

 

SALARY In accordance with the State of Delaware and local salary schedules (SK), based on experience and degree. Benefits package included.

  • Individuals must provide an official high school diploma/transcript, updated resume, and three (3) letters of recommendation.
  • All persons employed by the Caesar Rodney School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide the following: proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver's License), documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A., completion of I-9 form, and completion of paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.
