Guidance Counselor
Holy Cross Academy is seeking a compassionate, professional, and faith-centered School Guidance Counselor to serve students in our classical Catholic elementary and middle school. The Guidance Counselor supports the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of students, partnering with families, faculty, and administration to foster student growth rooted in Catholic teaching, virtue formation, and respect for the dignity of the human person.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development
- Collaborate with teachers and administration to support student success and address areas of concern
- Assist in the development and monitoring of student support plans and accommodations, as appropriate
- Serve as a resource for parents, offering guidance, communication, and referrals when necessary
- Support transitions between grade levels, including elementary to middle school and middle to high school
- Promote a positive school climate grounded in virtue, respect, and responsibility
- Participate in student support meetings and contribute to a coordinated approach to student care
- Maintain accurate, confidential records in accordance with school and diocesan policies
- Support the mission of Catholic education by integrating faith, moral reasoning, and respect for Church teaching into counseling practices
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events
Qualifications
- Valid state certification or licensure as a School Counselor (or eligibility for certification)
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to support students while partnering respectfully with families and faculty
- Commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church
- Practicing Catholic preferred; candidates supportive of Catholic teachings are encouraged to apply
