Classification: Licensed
Work Hours: 7.5 hours a day
Contract Length: 194 Days (Non-CBA)

DEFINITION
To work collaboratively with Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Childcare Center. Coordinate and mange assigned projects to support the early educational program activities and operations within the childcare.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direction from the Childcare Director/Early Childhood Coordinator
Exercise supervision over Childcare Technicians
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION STATEMENTS: Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Collaborate with the Director regarding the development and implementation of Childcare processes, policies and procedures.
• Support Childcare Technicians in curriculum planning, behavior management techniques, designing engaging activities, providing a safe learning environment, etc.
• Facilitate in maintaining a strong customer service-oriented climate by ensuring the office provides helpful, responsive, and timely support to all visitors to the childcare center.
• Prepare and/or complete in an accurate and timely manner reports required.
• Work collaboratively with the Childcare Administrative Assistance to ensure that all purchases are in compliance with the P-Card and PO process.
• Oversee and participate in recruitment and retention efforts.
• Provide or coordinate staff training; work with Childcare Technicians and the Director to address any challenges.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
Knowledge of:
• Operational characteristics, services, and activities of a licensed childcare center
• Best practices in early childhood.
• Developmental stages of early childhood growth and development
• Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations regarding childcare.
Ability to:
• Participate and co-lead in the coordination and management of a quality childcare program.
• Oversee, direct, and coordinate the work of Childcare Technicians; organize, prioritize, and communicate goals on a regular basis.
• Collaborate with the Director in the selection, supervision, and training, of staff.
• Assist in the recruitment of qualified childcare technicians.
• Collaborate with the Director in the development and administration of division goals, objectives, and procedures.
• Prepare clear and concise reports.
• Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals.
• Examine situations, determine urgency specific to each case, and act accordingly.
• Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively both orally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Early Childhood or a related field.
• Must be able to obtain any required background clearance from the Early Childhood Education and Care Department.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two or more years of experience working in an Early Childhood setting.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the job and access the environment for which you are hired. The following may be required: Sitting, standing, lifting, moving about the room or school, carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture.
Equipment/Technology Handled: Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After-hours work may be required.
