PROGRAM LOCATION: Brooks Elementary School
Nature and Scope
Medford Public Schools seeks licensed teachers to facilitate the Summer Literacy Academy 2026 for students currently in grades K-5. The program aims to support students in need of literacy remediation. Teachers will collaborate with the Program Director and Literacy Coaches in planning and development.
Responsibilities
- Follow all summer school procedures and district protocols
- Participate in program planning meetings
- Plan and deliver lessons aligned to ELA Standards using our district-approved resources (HMH Into Reading, ECRI, Foundational Skills Lesson Plan)
- Maintain accurate attendance records
- Communicate required information with caregivers
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Massachusetts Teaching License
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement standards-based instruction
- Familiarity using HMH Into Reading and ECRI, or willingness to learn (support will be provided)
- Strong communication skills with students, families, colleagues, and administrators
Rate and Schedule
Program Dates:
- Monday, August 3rd- Thursday 13th
- Monday-Thursday, 8:30AM -12:15PM (students 9AM-12PM)
Rate: $40
- Daily Hours: 3.75 hours x 8 days ($1200)
- Planning/Family Correspondence/Meeting: 9 ($360) $40 (includes 9 hours of frontloading training/planning/family correspondence)
- Total: $1560.00
