Job Description

  1.  Childhood Education or Child Development or the equivalent; or valid classroom CDA credential required. (optional compliance plan must be in place without above qualifications)
  2. Experience working with at risk families.
  3. Familiarity with research-based preschool curricula and preschool Program Quality Assessment (PQA)
  4. Certification in CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens.
  5. Relevant experience in early childhood classroom setting.
  6. Ability to effectively work well with diverse families.
  7. Ability to act as a resource person for families.
  8. Ability to be self-directed and take initiative when given a variety of tasks and responsibilities.

    Title: Associate Teacher for Great Start Readiness Program for Beacon Elementary
     
    Reports To: GSRP Director and/or Building Principal

     
    Job Goal: Work as a team member in providing a quality educational program for preschool children through supporting the classroom teacher in assessing, instruction of students and maintaining records to ensure grant compliance and licensing guidelines.
     
    Qualifications:
    1. Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or attainment of CDA (Preschool or Birth to Five)
    2. Knowledge of Child Care Licensing standards and mandates.
    3. Assist in planning, implementing and monitoring curriculum and assessment.
    4. Assist in establishing parent involvement activities.
    5. Assist in home visits.
    6. Assist in all daily operations of the program.
    7. Work with individual and small groups of students.
    8. Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
    9. Assist children with personal health care needs.
    10. Work collaboratively and communicate with the classroom teacher to implement lesson plans, activities and classroom tasks.
    11. Assist the Lead teacher with monitoring behavior and supporting the educational process in the classroom.
    12. Observe student's performance and record relevant data to assess progress.
    13. Collect and document data regarding the student(s).
    14. Maintain accurate and complete student records and logs.
    15. Supervise students in the classroom, bathroom, hallway and playground.
    16. Participate in training and on-going professional development.
    17. Able to work flexible hours as needed for family involvement activities, including home visits, recruitment events and open house.
    18. Additional duties as requested by the Lead teacher. 

 

Physical Requirements:
Employee must be capable of performing physical demands of the job, including but not limited to lifting, bending, stooping, squatting and standing for long periods of time. Work environment has a raised noise level.

 
Terms of Employment

  1. Full time, 7.5 hours a day, 37 weeks per year. 3rd Party Provider
  2. Performance to be evaluated by GSRP Director or building Principal.
  3. Employment is dependent on completion of pre-employment physical and criminal history check. This program and related positions are conditional upon approval of Child Care Program Licensing.
