What are the major job responsibilities?
The Instructional Coordinator will assist classroom teachers and other instructional staff with developing strategies, skills tools, techniques, and capacity to effectively teach core content strategies to all students. If the candidate has never taught at a CEN school, he or she will also have some teaching responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead coaching cycles with teachers on coaching caseload, using CEN's Coaching Model
- Track and monitor the growth of teachers on coaching caseload, using CEN's preferred tools
- Provide data and summarized trends around teachers' growth and ongoing needs to the Senior Director of Academics, according to a cadence of scheduled check-ins and planning meetings.
- Provide curriculum support, lesson plan feedback, and classroom modeling to assigned instructional staff, based upon CEN's core curriculum and Teaching + Learning Rubric.
- Support the Senior Director of Academics and Network Academic Team in designing and facilitating professional learning during Summer Summit and throughout the school year.
- Uphold expectations outlined by CEN's grading Policies and Guidelines
- Prepare for and lead or participate regularly in an assigned Content PLC
- Prepare for and lead data analysis sessions for teachers as assigned
- Attend professional development led by the Network Academic Team and/or Director of Academics
- Lead the school-based testing team as the Lead Testing Coordinator with assigned building
- Mentor assigned group of teachers (different than the coaching caseload) based on need.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent required; Master's degree preferred
- Have a highly qualified teaching certification
- The interview process will require a minimum of five consecutive years of demonstrated high-quality teaching, as evidenced by data.
- Experience working in diverse, low-income communities; sensitivity to and awareness of the needs of culturally diverse urban students and families.
- Outstanding organizational skills and strong attention to detail; excellent written and oral communication skills
- Belief in and commitment to the CEN School Model, based on the premise that ALL students can learn and succeed
- Experience and demonstrated success in designing and executing interventions for struggling students.
- Possess the desire and willingness to develop own skill set
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain constructive group relationships
- Preference is given to current CEN Master Teachers
- Will successfully pass a criminal background check
