Job Title: Lead Teacher Great Start Readiness Program
Terms of Employment: $48,000 annually, Paid time off, No health insurance available with this position
Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:45am - 3:45pm
Description:
Using pre-kindergarten standards of quality, developmentally appropriate practices, and early childhood curriculum, provide instruction and ongoing assessment to students in a grant-based school readiness program.
Job Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate and Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement
OR - Bachelor's degree in child development or early childhood development with specialization in preschool teaching
- Teaching experience with at-risk children preferred
- Trained in High Scope Curriculum, COR Advantage, preferred
- Have or be willing to obtain current CPR and First Aid Certification
- Must be able to obtain Michigan Child Care Licensing Background Check clearance, including fingerprinting
Responsibilities:
- Reports to program director
- Plan weekly lesson plans following HighScope Curriculum
- Engage with children in all areas and parts of the day
- Work collaboratively with teaching team
- Complete home visits and parent teacher conferences
- Record child assessment observation notes
- Follow all licensing guidelines
- Establish a diverse and inclusive classroom that fosters equality for all children regardless of gender, race, or developmental needs
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequently stand, walk, sit, talk or hear
- Regularly reach with hands and arms
- Regularly lift up to 40-70 pounds
- Occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
- The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment
- Employee must possess physical ability sufficient to employ physical intervention strategies when necessary, i.e. non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
