EFFECTIVE DATE: 2026/2027 School Year
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a valid elementary teaching certificate with an appropriate endorsement to teach K - 4th grade
- Master's degree preferred (literacy, education, or related field)
- Five years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level
- Experience implementing evidence-based literacy instruction aligned to the science of reading
- Demonstrate ability to read and analyze data
- Demonstrate mastery understanding of curriculum
- Strong leadership abilities
- Possess leadership credibility with teaching staff
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willing to attend and/or conduct after school meetings directly related to meeting the needs of identified students in Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions
- Willing to attend training programs for intervention implementation and curriculum meetings as needed, including during the summer
- Exhibit the emotional stability and physical stamina necessary for meeting the requirements of the position
The following are strongly preferred:
- Experience in instructional leadership preferred
- Reading specialist endorsement (state code BR)
- Experience coaching staff with instructional practices
- Reading and Math Recovery trained
- Cognitive Coaching trained
- Current training in intervention strategies in the areas of math, ELA, science and social studies
- Experience with multi-tiered support systems (MTSS)
- Strong understanding and experience with math and reader's workshop
- Experience working with paraprofessionals to support academic growth
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide job-embedded coaching (modeling, co-teaching, observation, and feedback)
- Support implementation of explicit, systematic foundational literacy instruction (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency)
- Model best instructional practices across literacy and support integration with other content areas
- Observe classroom instruction and collaborate with building leaders to develop coaching plans
- Facilitate professional development aligned to district initiatives and current legislation
- Provide training in literacy, data use, and best instructional practices
- Support teachers in applying new learning into daily instruction
- Support development and implementation of MTSS systems
- Assist in identifying, monitoring, and exiting students in Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions
- Ensure alignment between core instruction and intervention supports
- Guide teachers in using screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring tools
- Facilitate data meetings to inform instructional decisions
- Support staff in analyzing literacy and broader academic data
- Support implementation of evidence-based literacy curriculum with fidelity
- Provide guidance on effective instructional strategies across content areas
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with teachers and MTSS teams
- Partner with administrators to support school improvement efforts
- Provide leadership in literacy and instructional best practices

- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.

SALARY: Per DEA Master Agreement
