Job Description
STRABAG UK’s Infrastructure Division is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Senior Buyer to support the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects across the UK. Operating within a fast-paced, multi-project environment, the role will take responsibility for the strategic sourcing, procurement and supply chain management of plant, equipment and construction materials, ensuring best value, programme certainty and compliance across all project operations. Working closely with project teams, suppliers and key stakeholders, the Senior Buyer will play a critical role in driving procurement performance, developing supplier relationships and supporting STRABAG UK’s commitment to safety, sustainability, quality and operational excellence. The successful candidate will bring strong negotiation skills, infrastructure sector experience and the ability to manage complex procurement activities across multiple live projects while contributing to the wider commercial and procurement strategy of the business. Requirements: Demonstrate comprehensive material and plant product and supply chain knowledge Providing a comprehensive material and plant procurement service for all projects Deliver a consistent procurement approach across all projects within the regional operating unit from work winning / pre-construction stage. Demonstrate best overall value for money in the procurement recommendations. Ensure a robust negotiation process is applied in the engagement process. Ensure contract arrangements and package details are comprehensive and protect the business in its dealings with suppliers and sub-contractors. Contribution to Strabag leverage at every opportunity. Ensure decisions are not focussed upon lowest price but overall best value for money. Develop an accredited and structured supply chain that is aligned to the regional operating unit demand and overall Strabag strategy. Consistently monitor the marketplace to ensure awareness of pricing trends, risks and opportunities Continuously seek out and assess new supply chain members to meet regional operating unit project demand. Monitor the supply chain performance, workload and financial status to protect the corporate position. Develop the supply chain, products and innovations that bring cost and/or buildability benefits. Actively contribute to future development of Strabag procurement strategy Compliance with procurement process, procedures and Company ethics Ensure the implementation of National/Regional agreements relating across all projects within the regional operating unit.
