Inspects mill equipment for defects, such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, hydraulic systems, etc. Determines the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production. Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.
Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, hydraulic equipment and lubricates mechanical equipment. Adjusts equipment for proper operating gears, bearings and shafts involving the application of press, sliding and running fits. Operates simple machine tools, such as drill press, pipe-threading machine, power saw, etc. Babbitts and scrapes bearing as required. Erects scaffolds and performs all rigging as necessary.
Performs all mechanical repairs as required on cranes and mobile equipment.
Lays out, installs, maintains, and repairs all types of pipe lines, fittings, fixtures and pressure systems as required.
Repairs leaks in hydraulic systems. Replaces section of pipe that have sprung leaks. Removes and installs complete operating components such as cylinders, oil motors, four way valves, check valves, etc. that are kept as spares for assemblies on production units, and makes necessary repairs to same.
Changes, sets up and adjusts equipment as required by current operating conditions.
Works with repair crews as directed and/or required.
Completes reports and forms as directed.
Exercises all required safety precautions and maintains a clean work area.
Operates mobile equipment as required.
Operates E.O.T. crane as required for maintenance purposes.
