The Cybersecurity Engineer supports the development, implementation, and operation of the organization’s cybersecurity architecture and security platforms. This role works within the Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering team to implement target state security patterns, strengthen enterprise security capabilities, and reduce organizational risk. The position partners closely with Information Management, Clinical Engineering, and Digital teams to integrate security controls into enterprise technology environments while supporting a scalable and internally owned cybersecurity program.
Essential Job Functions:
- Implement and operate enterprise cybersecurity technologies and security control platforms.
- Support implementation of security architecture standards across cloud (Microsoft Azure), identity (Active Directory, Entra ID, CyberArk), network (PaloAlto), endpoint (Defender, Intune), application, and data environments.
- Collaborate with Information Management architecture and engineering teams to integrate security controls into infrastructure and application platforms.
- Assist with security architecture reviews to ensure new and existing solutions align with security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain security configurations, automation, and operational procedures for cybersecurity tools and platforms.
- Identify opportunities to improve security control coverage, automation, and operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to documentation of security architecture patterns, standards, and implementation guidance across various technology platforms such as Azure, Active Directory, Firewall, and other technology platforms
- Partner with Clinical Engineering to ensure cybersecurity controls support medical device technologies and patient care environments.
- Assist with vulnerability remediation, security hardening, and validation of security patches across enterprise systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience implementing and operating enterprise cybersecurity technologies.
- Broad technical knowledge across multiple cybersecurity domains including identity and access management, endpoint security, cloud security, network security, vulnerability management, and detection and response.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience implementing, managing, and operating enterprise cybersecurity technologies and infrastructure platforms across Microsoft Active Directory, Azure cloud environments, Palo Alto Networks firewalls, and VMware virtualization.
- Understanding of security architecture principles and risk-based security design.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with infrastructure, cloud, application, and clinical technology teams.
- Experience working in healthcare or other regulated environments preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant frameworks and regulations including NIST and HIPAA preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical security concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, Security+, CCSP, or GIAC preferred.

$99,840.00-$164,736.00 SalaryAt Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
