Position Description: The Design Center Consultant will guide homebuyers through the selection process for finishes and features in our Design Center, ensuring that each customer’s vision for their new home is realized. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for design, an in-depth understanding of homebuilding materials, and a passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience. This role involves working closely with homebuyers to help them select interior finishes, providing expert advice on design choices, and ensuring the design process is both enjoyable and seamless.

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Customer Consultation: Meet with homebuyers to understand their style preferences, budget, and design vision. Provide personalized consultations to help clients select finishes, upgrades, and features that align with their needs and desires.

 

Design Recommendations: Offer expert guidance on the selection of interior and exterior materials, including flooring, cabinetry, countertops, lighting, and color schemes. Provide customers with design ideas and suggestions based on current trends, functionality, and the homebuilder’s options.

 

Product Knowledge: Stay up to date with the latest design trends, product offerings, and materials available within the homebuilding industry. Be knowledgeable about the builder’s standard and upgrade options, including various product brands and pricing.

 

Sales Support: Help homebuyers make informed decisions while maintaining an understanding of the builder’s pricing structure, product availability, and lead times. Ensure all selections fall within the customer’s budget while meeting quality standards.

 

Design Presentation: Prepare and present design options, including mood boards, samples, and visual aids, to help clients visualize their choices. Guide them through the design center displays and product samples to enhance their selection process.

 

Coordination with Construction Team: Work closely with the construction and project management teams to ensure design selections are accurately documented, communicated, and executed. Ensure that client selections are incorporated into the building process seamlessly.

 

Customer Education: Educate clients about the benefits of various design options, including durability, maintenance, and energy efficiency. Help clients understand the impact of their choices on the overall design and functionality of their home.

 

Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure a positive experience throughout the design process. Act as the primary point of contact for clients with questions or concerns about design choices.

 

Documentation and Follow-Up: Ensure all design selections are properly documented and entered into the system. Follow up with clients to confirm final choices and ensure the timely delivery of products to meet construction schedules.

 

Maintain Design Center: Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting design center environment. Ensure all product samples and displays are up-to-date and well-presented for client consultations.

 

 

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree or coursework in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a design-related role, preferably in the homebuilding, interior design, or retail industry.
  • Experience working with homebuyers, clients, or customers in a sales or design consulting capacity is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of homebuilding materials, finishes, and construction processes is preferred.

 

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage with homebuyers and understand their design preferences.
  • A strong sense of style and a keen eye for design, with the ability to suggest aesthetically pleasing and functional design solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar) is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic understanding of budgeting and pricing within the homebuilding industry.
